Courage the Cowardly Dog is an American animated blend of comedy and horror, crafted by John R. Dilworth for Cartoon Network. Produced by Dilworth’s animation company, Stretch Films, the show follows an abandoned and rather skittish puppy residing with an elderly couple in a secluded farmhouse in the fictional town of Nowhere, Kansas. In each episode, the trio is thrown into bizarre, frequently disturbing, and often paranormal or supernatural adventures. However, it is shown in one of the episodes later that courage was not abandoned by its parents instead they had been kidnapped by a scientist and sent to another planet for being extra ordinary. The series is known for its dark, surreal humor and atmosphere.

Although a cartoon, courage the cowardly dog gave nightmares to a lot of kids in their time. A multitude of mature folks still claim to be insanely spooked of that show. It is reported to have disturbingly scary visuals and horrifying character features in multiple episodes that most probably be the reason of such reviews by the early watchers of the show.
However, a lot of other individuals seem to enjoy the show like every other cartoon and wanted to own a similar purple colored dog that would save them from bed monsters and would know how to use a keyboard with its paw.

As scary as the show itself, there’s a rather disturbing theory that the show is based on a true story and the makers when got hands on the theory decided to turn it into a cartoon show for kids. The base of the theory is no different than the base of the show which is that there was a couple that adopted an abandoned dog and claimed to have horror interactions with supernatural elements and figures in their house and seemed to have just disappeared into thin air. No one knows where they went. Someone did however found the dog abandoned in the house.
